Our History
Tejas Surveying began operating in 1982 under the leadership of Randy S. McClendon, RPLS No. 4079. In 2022, Tejas Surveying was acquired by Pedraza Surveying, LLC. Now, under the direction of Jose A. Pedraza, RPLS No. 6806, Pedraza Surveying, LLC dba Tejas Surveying strives to continue the tradition of delivering outstanding surveying products that exceed our clients’ expectations while meeting established schedules and budgets. Tejas Surveying strives to apply the newest industry technology and software to provide unique client solutions in a timely manner. Maintaining this customer-centric approach allows us to provide excellence in each and every survey we conduct.
Our President
Jose A. Pedraza, MBA, RPLS, PMP, EIT, ENV SP
Jose has over 14 years of experience in the land surveying industry. He is a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Texas with previous project experience including public and private work that has taken him across the world. Jose A. has worked on a number of projects in the Greater Houston Area, including work for Harris, Brazoria, and Fort Bend Counties as well as several Cities and other governmental entities in the area. His understanding of various civil engineering concepts allow him to provide thorough solutions to small- and large-scale projects alike. Apart from overseeing multiple projects and the day-to-day operations of the firm, Jose A. serves on multiple boards and organizations with the goal of increasing awareness of the land surveying profession. Out of office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Ashley, and their son Dean.
Randy S. McClendon, RPLS
As a fourth generation Texan, Randy has seen the vast development of the greater Houston area and has measured nearly every corner along the way. His surveying career began in 1971 with Edminister/Hinshaw & Assoc., and he also worked with McLean & Assoc, Wilkinson Engineering and Survcon, Inc. before developing his own operation in 1982. With more than 35 years of surveying experience and community leadership, Randy has had a front-row seat of Fort Bend County’s growth and prosperity. He has served as President of TSPS Gulf Coast Chapter, President of Cinco M.U.D. No. 7., was a Charter Member and the Director of the Exchange Club of Sugar Land and has been a member of many other local community and non-profit organizations. Randy’s current role at Tejas is management, commercial surveying, GPS control, highway projects, subdivision platting, and engineering-related projects. He graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1982, not long before Hakeem Olajuwon would put the Cougars on the map. When he’s out of the office, he spends time with his wife, Pam and catching up with their six children and three grandchildren. On the weekend, you can find him cheering on the Astros, Cougars, Longhorns, Skeeters and Texans.
